Every AI vendor pitching your dealership says the same line: "trained on your data."
Most of them aren't.

The piece that actually does that is called RAG. Retrieval-Augmented Generation. Ugly name, simple idea.

Before the AI answers, it goes and reads your stuff first. Your inventory. Your service history. Your pricing. Your policies. Then it answers from that, not from whatever it scraped off the internet in 2023.

No RAG means the chatbot on your site is guessing about your store. Confidently.

So the next time someone demos an AI tool, ask one question: "Where does it get my data before it answers?"

If they can't say, you have your answer.

I told them about my dad, Rusty Hendrix

A while back I got him one of those “dad life story” books from TikTok with prompts you fill in, one memory at a time. He actually finished it.

He took what he wrote and had Claude turn it into a real narrative. Then I used NotebookLM to build a podcast-style interview with my voice cloned as the host, his voice cloned through ElevenLabs as the guest.

Now I have 30-minute episodes where I’m interviewing my own dad about his life.

It’s a lot of feelings at once. I learned why he’s scared of tornadoes. I learned why he’s obsessed with critical thinking. Obsessed enough that his first project using Claude was starting his own religion. It’s called thechurchofidontknow.org. I’m not kidding.

He’s headed back to Italy soon, where he lived and served a mission for two years, and he’s been using Claude to have conversations in Italian to knock the rust off. He has it call him “big daddy king.”

Old dogs can learn new tricks. I’m just grateful I get to hear my dad’s life story in his own voice, on my own time, for as long as I want.

That’s the use case nobody brings up on here with the endless “Claude just killed xyz” lead magnet posts. Just getting to know your dad a little better while you still can. Happy Building!
